The Cover Letter….
There are many things that can be a part of your Resume, but
of late a lot of companies just need that cover letter alongside your resume.
It is now become a quintessential part of every resume format.
Since no cover letter can be perfect to match your perfect
resume, here are some tips that can help you draft one with ease.
There’s no hard and fast rule that you have to use this
format, but this is the easiest and the simplest.
COVER LETTER FORMAT:
Applicant/Job Seekers Information:
Your name:
Apartment Number, Building/ Street Name,
City, State Zip code
Email address
Home Phone and Mobile number:

Dear Ms. /Mr. Contact name,
Dear Ms. /Mr. Contact name,
The First paragraph tells why you
are contacting the person; it talks about where you heard about the job. It
also states your introduction and who you are. Next it mentions how sincere you
are and about the extensive research you have done on the company. The goal is
to demonstrate the worthiness of your application and probing them to read
further into the Covering Letter and your Resume.
The second paragraph talks more
about yourself and how you are the ideal match for the job and also summarizing
why YOU are what they are looking for… Also if you have any gaps or anything
that needs clarification in your resume, you could use this space to clarify
just that.
Finally thank the reader for
taking the time out to read your Covering letter and Resume. Once that is done
say a good bye and include that you look forward to receiving a positive
response. Also give them a time (ideally a week’s time) when you would be
getting in touch with them.
Yours sincerely,

I don’t say this is the best
format, but if you try it out it will work just fine alongside your resume.
Like I always say; LESS IS MORE, remember
not to pour out unnecessary information into the covering letter. Keep it simple with minimal information and
crisp with the required information. In the information that you have
researched about the company make sure you have all the right facts and figures
and limit it to just the overall background on the company and how you see
yourself placed in that environment.
Choose a good readable font for
the covering letter which is not too small and not too big. In a bid to impress
do not choose a big font as it may give out wrong signals. A big font could
mean that you are pushy and an over confident person or a shallow person trying
to portray something you’re not.
Be wise in judgement of words in
the covering letter and make sure you send out the message that you are here to
impress.
I will break up the Format of the
Covering letter even further in another blog to enable you to put it together.
Until then, Happy reading….
