How To Crack An Interview – a lay mans guide…
I don’t have a secret mantra or something that I’m going to pass on.  But I do know some things that go into the Recipe for the successful cracking of an interview which I am going to list for you to read.

Mahatma Gandhi has rightly said “ If you want to change the world, start with yourself “.

  1. Free Your Mind ; Break the Mould
All said and done, there are people who must have told you that it is very difficult to get a job. Its true…yes it is difficult to get a job..and the sooner you understand this it’s good for you.

DIFFICULT they say…I say NOT IMPOSSIBLE.
What you need to understand and accept is that that you are not the only one passing out from your college and wants a job. Now imagine the number of scores of students/freshers from the hundreds of colleges who want jobs every year…It sure is a big
    number.
Since you are a fresher you need to first change your mindset and accept the fact that you will get your first break only if you are patient and don’t lose hope.
What you could do in the meanwhile is:
    a) Keep yourself abreast and updated with latest news and current affairs. (read the newspapers)
    b) Keep yourself updated on Industry trends (who’s doing well and who’s not)
    c) Do a lot of extensive research on the above
    d) Do mock interviews with friends and relatives
  2. Meditate – Understand yourself
The most important ingredient in the Recipe of cracking a successful interview. The internet is full of meditation techniques. Pick one technique and make it your mantra. But the key to picking the best one is the one which helps you calm yourself and the stress you undergo. For you to understand yourself you need to practice meditation.
  3. Confidence – Build it
This is not some candy you can buy out of some store. It’s something you need to build over time with practice and understanding your strengths.

Confidence is just an elevated state of mind in which you are sure that whatever you are saying or doing is just right.
You can pull off anything if you have conviction and believe whatever you are saying and doing.
  4. Body LanguageYour posture and the way you walk or sit actually tells a lot about you. Learn how to portray the right message while at an interview. Some tips and tricks are listed below

Here are some DO’s and DON’Ts when you go for an interview:-

a)The Handshake: This will determine the First Impression that you set.
Let it be a firm handshake; not to loose not too tight. Smile and look into the interviewers eyes when you’re shaking their hand.

b) Posture: Your aim should be to sit with your back straight as if a rope was tied from your head to the ceiling.

c) Maintain Eye Contact: Maintain eye contact with the interviewer and look interested. Don’t stare and scare the interviewer.

d) Arms crossed: Don’t cross your arms over your chest since it signifies that you are defensive. Instead keep your hands by your side; this signifies that you are approachable. So also don’t keep your hands behind your back ; this signifies that you are stiff.

e) Nodding: Don’t keep nodding at everything the interviewer says. Nod once or twice and firmly in agreement so as to let the interviewer know you’ve understood.

f) Don’t get fidgety: Don’t let nervous energy take over you. It will be a complete turnoff if the interviewer sees how you behave when you’re nervous.

g) Match Expression with tone: The tone in which you speak should match with your expressions since it will give out vibes that you are not comfortable answering the question.

Last but not the least remember it’s only YOU who can help yourself and the first step towards achieving this should be YOURS!
