With a lot of companies now recruiting through the medium of social media, the fact remains that only 40% of young professionals use social media to get jobs.
You can now supplement your job search by following  these new ways to get a job using social media.
Companies have started paying attention to a new set of skills. Soft skills (i.e., communication, organization, leadership, etc)have become increasingly important as a way to choose one candidate over another. In today’s world, not only do you need strong hard and soft skills, but you also need to develop an online influence. When two candidates look the same on paper and are both good communicators, the differentiator will only be their online influence.

First Impression
Nowadays Facebook is the best social media networking site and it has millions of users. It is the right place where you can be looking for a job. Before you start looking for a Job or let me put it this way whether you are looking for a job or not , make sure that your Facebook Page contains only your professional information and you block from the public, your private photos and some information which can destroy your professional image. Companies are increasingly more likely to peruse your profiles on your social media accounts as they most likely become your true first impression.

Lets Start with your data…
First things first, edit your data. Ensure that you have deleted all inappropriate language in the part of profile which describes you, Keep  your information up-to-date, mention your current city, job and date and place of your graduation.
Check all photo albums and each photo in it. You should delete any unsuitable photos of you or somebody else.
Remember to block photos where your friends have tagged of you. On your Facebook page, there is “Privacy Settings” section, go there, then click “How Tags Work”. Then you can change “Max profile visibility” to “custom, only me”. So your friends can tag you in updates, photos, notes and only you can see them on your profile.
I am sure you know that you can limit your visibility and make your updates and photos able to be seen only by friends, for that your default privacy setting should not be set to “public” but to “friends”. You can find this setting at the top of the major privacy settings page which is in the upper right angle of any screen on Facebook.
You are the best judge to what is appropriate and what is inappropriate on your social profile. Question yourself;  would you hire the person with the same content posted on their Facebook profile ? If you feel negative about some photos or text, it would be better to delete them.
In the digital age, it is not only critical to prepare for job interviews and write job winning resumes,  you also have to make sure your online presence is just as presentable. Now this is an area that can cause confusion for job seekers because, really, whose advice can you trust? Thankfully, there are reputable sources out there to help you whip your online profiles into shape.
Be careful about what’s visible on your Social profile
Choose the right picture for all your social profile, you may love a picture of your favorite Music band or Actor, it won’t likely be of any interest to an employer.

LINKEDIN & TWITTER
Nowadays its  equally important to have a linkedin profile, and that it should have your most recent experience. Always update your linkedin profile. Connect with your former co-workers to build your network. Linkedin plays a powerful role in a Job search.
Always keep your updates positive because people don’t like working with negative people. I once learned this from my former Boss that there are three things in life that you cannot choose, your time of birth, your time of death and your Boss. Accept it the way they are. So if you don’t like anyone in life that doesn’t give you the right to talk negative about him on your status update. Never post anything negative about work, especially if your posts are public. That looks bad to both your current employer and prospective employers.
Getting your online presence ready for a job interview is a must – don’t make the mistake of ignoring it.
Twitter is a great tool as well to network with professionals. Before you interview with a company, scout out their Twitter feeds to bring up topics they mention in your answers. Retweet a few of their posts or, after the interview, tweet something nice about the workplace, which can give you major brownie points.

Referrals
Ten years ago, it would take you a lot of effort to ask your friends who they know and to remember where all your friends work. Now you can easily find where your friends work and with whom they are connected. You can ask for their reference at their place of work or ask them to refer your name to one of their friends.
Check in on your social networking accounts periodically to take a pulse on how they’re reflecting you as a professional and as a personal brand. There are tools like Reppler to help evaluate your social presence under a professional lens. Don’t miss an opportunity to flaunt your skills, interests, or point of view. Potential clients, employers, and industry experts are on the lookout for new talent and thought leaders.

Let me quickly summarize few things which are important:
Delete Party Photos :  Any photos that show you participating in questionable or illegal activities, including photos, tagged photos, status updates or mentions should be removed from your page.
Delete inappropriate cover photos :  Simply put, take them down. Employers appreciate professional modesty and look for proof that candidates conduct themselves in everyday life with a dignity appropriate to the work environment. Cover photos are not private on your account and will make or break your first impression.
Delete status updates : Remove anything personal that you don’t want your future employers to know about you. This includes deleting mentions portraying your current or previous employers an a bad light.
Update friends list : Remove anyone you don’t know and don’t associate with anymore, or who frequently tags you in unprofessional photos or tags. You do not want that persons inappropriateness to affect your job search.
